If the 1980’s and ’90s cowrote a Pop song, it might sound similar to The Jack Pine’s “Like An Astronaut.” The new single has been described by Distopic as “A classic example of smart pop, sadly becoming rarer to find.” Cowritten with frequent collaborator Jay Bryant-Wimp, the lyrics explore the human impact on the planet with a plea that if we could all see how small and insignificant we are, traveling together on this solitary rock in the middle of the universe, maybe we could make it a better place for everyone and every thing that calls Earth home.
The band has evolved from its Tom Petty-esque sound on their 2018, Dan Call produced debut album, “Losing Season,” to a bigger, more contemporary Pop Rock sound.
“Layered with an impressive complexity of sound, this track showcases a magnificent display of human ingenuity while also addressing some urgent global challenges, The Jack Pine stands out as a reminder of the importance of well-crafted music that ties them together.”

“With this new single, the band proves its mastery of smart pop, a genre that has become rare, while maintaining an authenticity marked by classic influences and careful songwriting.”
